Job summary

Mesa County Valley School District 51 is seeking a Paraprofessional, Behavior Support (Temporary) to assist in supporting students with behavioral and social-emotional challenges during the 2026-27 school year.

The role involves implementing behavior plans, de-escalation, data collection, MTSS collaboration, and supervision across school settings. Requires a high school diploma and experience with children; bilingual ability preferred for bilingual programs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Two years of experience working with children required.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills required when assigned to bilingual program.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct support to individual students or small groups experiencing behavioral or trauma-related challenges.
• Reinforce behavior skills and coach students in safe, pro-social behaviors.
• Implement behavior intervention plans, replacement behaviors, and safety plans as directed.
• Support students during behavioral escalations using de-escalation strategies and assist with recovery and reintegration.
• Apply district-approved restraint and seclusion protocols as required.

Skills

Associate's degree or 48 college hours
