The role requires an SLI license, strong ASL skills, confidentiality, and collaboration with teachers and special education teams to ensure equal access to curriculum while adapting to diverse learning contexts.

Qualifications

• Active SLI license required.
• Proficiency in ASL and other signed communication modes.
• Experience interpreting in school or educational environments preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide interpreting services between students, staff, and teachers using American Sign Language (ASL)
• Facilitate communication in both classroom and extracurricular settings
• Support the educational, social, and emotional needs of students who are deaf or hard of hearing
• Collaborate with instructors and special education teams to ensure equal access to curriculum
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all student interactions
• Adapt interpreting services for a variety of situations, including meetings, assemblies, and school events
