Job summary

Sunbelt Staffing in Virginia is seeking a dedicated Sign Language Interpreter for the upcoming academic year. This full-time contract runs August 2026 through June 2027 and offers 37.5 hours per week, providing interpretation for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in classrooms and school activities.

You will work with teachers and staff to tailor services to individual needs, interpret spoken English and ASL, and uphold ethics and confidentiality to foster an inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications

• Virginia Quality Assurance Screening Level III certification required.
• EIPA score of 3.5 or higher with passing written component.
• Alternative qualifications accepted by the Virginia Department for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (VDDHH).
• Familiarity with school environments and passion for supporting student success.
• Strong interpersonal skills for clear, accurate communication.

Responsibilities

• Interpret spoken English and ASL for students, staff, and faculty.
• Provide interpretation services across classroom activities, meetings, assemblies, and extracurriculars.
• Collaborate with teachers to tailor interpreting services for students' individual needs.
• Maintain professional ethics and confidentiality in all assignments.
• Support a positive, accessible, and inclusive learning environment.
