Job summary

Methodist Richardson Medical Center in the Dallas area seeks a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to provide a range of respiratory care and diagnostic services for adults and neonates under indirect supervision. Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
• NRP, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) must be obtained within 1 year of hire.
• Licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner by the Texas Medical Board in good standing.
• Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
• At least 6 months of respiratory care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs respiratory therapeutics including oxygen administration, weaning, aerosol/humidity therapy, IPPB, incentive spirometry, airway maintenance, bronchial hygiene, chest physiotherapy, CPR and mechanical ventilation.
• Performs and reports prescribed cardiopulmonary diagnostic procedures: arterial blood gases, pulse oximetry, pulmonary function tests, ECGs.
• Prepares a treatment evaluation with bedside assessment, patient interview and chart review.
• Apply critical thinking to patient care decisions and interventions.
• Interprets CXR, ABG, and PFT data when reviewing patient information.
• Assembles, checks, operates and troubleshoots equipment: ventilators, airways, oxygen analyzers, delivery devices, gas analyzers.
• Participates in infection control, safety and quality assurance tasks.
• Performs cleaning and maintenance of cardiopulmonary equipment and work areas.
