Job summary

Ponaganset Middle School is seeking an Assistant Coach for Boys Baseball to help student-athletes develop skills and a love of the game while modeling discipline and teamwork. The role focuses on growth, sportsmanship, and academics, with after-school/evening responsibilities and collaboration with the Athletic Director and Principal.

The candidate must meet RI coaching requirements, hold current First Aid/CPR/AED certification, and complete NFHS courses.

Qualifications

• Experience coaching adolescent age students in competitive sports.
• Current & Valid First Aid/CPR/AED Certificate.
• Updated National and State BCI Check.
• NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching and related NFHS courses.
• NIHS/RI required safety and anti-abuse/fraud courses completed.

Responsibilities

• Coaches individual participants, small groups and teams in necessary skills.
• Supervises individual team members and teams at all times.
• Knows and implements RI IL rules and district policies.
• Works with school officials to monitor student academics and emphasizes performance.
• Acts as a role model for officials, competitors and observers under stress.
• Coordinates practices and games with the athletic director.
• Notifies AD about facilities, equipment and uniforms condition.
• Communicates with AD about team members and issues.
• Notifies AD of any safety concerns.
• Delegates coaching responsibilities to assistants and volunteers.
• Performs other duties as defined by the athletic director and principal.
