Job summary

Ponaganset Middle School in Glocester, Rhode Island, is seeking an after-school Softball Head Coach to develop players' skills and foster discipline, teamwork and academic achievement. The coach will focus on personal growth, sportsmanship, and a positive athletic experience.

The role reports to the Athletic Director and Principal and involves coaching individuals and teams, scheduling practices, and maintaining safety and equipment.

Qualifications

• Experience coaching adolescent age students in competitive sports.
• Meets all requirements adopted by RI and the Foster-Glocester Regional School District, including updated BCI checks.
• Current & Valid First Aid/CPR/AED Certificate.
• NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching Course, Concussion in Sports Course, and annual NFHS courses listed in the posting.

Responsibilities

• Coaches individual participants, small groups and teams in softball skills.
• Supervises team members and teams at all times.
• Schedules practices and games in coordination with the athletic director and other coaches.
• Monitors student academics and emphasizes leadership, discipline and sportsmanship.
• Ensures safety and correct facility/equipment condition; communicates with the athletic director on team matters.
