Job summary

Ponaganset High School is seeking an Assistant Coach for Boys Baseball in Glocester, RI. The coach will guide players, supervise athletes, and uphold district and RIIL rules while emphasizing academics and personal growth.

The role reports to the Athletic Director and Principal, with duties including scheduling, safety oversight, and collaboration with other coaches. This is an after-school/evening position requiring strong character and leadership.

Qualifications

• Experience coaching adolescent age students in competitive sports.
• Updated National and State BCI Check required.
• Current First Aid/CPR/AED certificate.
• NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching course.
• NFHS Concussion in Sports (annual).
• NFHS Protecting Students From Abuse (annual).
• NFHS RI State Component Course (new coaches).
• NFHS Sudden Cardiac Arrest (annual).
• NFHS Implicit Bias (annual).
• NFHS Student Mental Health and Suicide Prevention (annual).
• NFHS Heat Illness Prevention (annual).
• NFHS Title IX and Sportsmanship courses.

Responsibilities

• Coaches participants, small groups, and teams in specified skills.
• Supervises individuals and teams at all times.
• Follows RI IL rules, policies, and district procedures.
• Supports academics while promoting leadership and character.
• Acts as a role model for officials, competitors, and spectators.
• Coordinates practice and game schedules with athletic director.
• Reports facility and equipment status to athletic director.
• Communicates team issues with athletic director and staff.
• Notifies of any safety concerns that could affect participants.
• Delegates coaching tasks to assistants and volunteers.
• Performs other duties as assigned by athletic director and principal.
