Job summary

Wilderness Way in Richmond, UK, is seeking a proactive Team Leader to drive high-quality residential care for children. You will lead shifts, coach frontline teams, and champion safeguarding and trauma-informed approaches to create safe, nurturing environments.

You’ll work closely with families, schools and professionals to secure positive outcomes, oversee care plans, and support continuous improvement while promoting education, wellbeing and independence for young people.

Qualifications

• Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent.
• Experience in residential childcare supporting children with emotional/behavioural needs.
• Demonstrated leadership through coaching, mentoring or shift leadership.
• Must be 21+ due to regulatory requirements in children’s residential care.
• Right to work in the UK; sponsorship not offered.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to drive as part of the role.
• Resilience, sound judgement and a positive leadership approach.

Responsibilities

• Lead shifts to ensure safe, consistent, high-quality care for children.
• Coach and support Residential Support Workers and Senior Residential Support Workers to build confidence and best practice.
• Champion trauma-informed care and create nurturing environments.
• Ensure children's voices are reflected in their care and support.
• Promote education, wellbeing and independence through everyday opportunities.
• Oversee care plans, risk assessments and records to maintain standards and compliance.
• Lead safeguarding on shift and support colleagues in decision-making.
• Collaborate with families, schools and professionals to achieve positive outcomes.
• Support audits, inspections and continuous improvement to maintain outstanding services.
• Deputise for senior leaders and drive day-to-day operations.
