Job summary

Carson City Public Works seeks a full‑time landfill operations worker in Carson City, NV. Under supervision, you will perform heavy equipment operations, dust control, gatehouse duties, and data entry while maintaining safe work practices.

Two years of heavy equipment experience and a Class A with tanker endorsement are required within 18 months. The role offers substantial benefits and opportunities within public service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; and two (2) years of heavy equipment operation experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Valid Class A driver's license with tanker endorsement within 18 months of hire; Respiratory Fit test required.
• Knowledge of landfill policies, data entry, and standard report generation.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment for landfill operations and keep equipment clean and functional.
• Operate water truck for dust control and fire suppression.
• Operate gatehouse, use automated scale, and collect waste load fees.
• Direct vehicle traffic at the landfill and maintain facilities.
• Enter data, prepare reports, and review for accuracy.
