Job summary

Florida Virtual School (FLVS) seeks an Instructor for the Florida Scholars Academy to deliver remediation, acceleration, and academic growth for at-risk students in residential facilities across the state. The role emphasizes blended learning—online and in-person—under the supervision of DJJ and regional leaders.

You will plan engaging lessons, assess progress, and collaborate with teachers to meet school-wide goals while maintaining professional standards and timely communication with families

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college/university.
• Valid Florida Professional Teaching Certificate in content area OR proof of active enrollment in a state-approved EPI or MAT program AND eligible for Florida Certificate.
• ESE Certification, preferred.
• Gifted Endorsement, preferred.
• ESOL Endorsement, preferred.
• Reading Endorsement, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and implement engaging instructional activities in assigned subject(s).
• Identify, select, create, and modify instructional resources for diverse learners.
• Supervise students in class and conduct attendance checks.
• Maintain accurate records and attendance.
• Maintain classroom discipline with effective behavior management.
• Provide a positive learning environment and engage students in learning.
• Evaluate student progress and provide feedback.
• Grade assignments and advise students on academic progress.
• Collaborate with supervisor and peers through team-teaching, meetings, and professional learning communities.
• Communicate with students, parents, and stakeholders within established timelines.
• Model professional and ethical standards with stakeholders.
• Support student growth, meeting age/subject program goals.
• Participate in blended learning (online and in-person) across residential facilities statewide; report to assigned facilities.
• Provide instructional tutoring as directed and services in person at facilities under DJJ.
• Demonstrate understanding of technology and troubleshoot common issues.
• Meet professional obligations: deadlines, schedules, resource coordination, and respect for others.
• All responsibilities may be adjusted to align with performance goals.
