Job summary

Eugene School District 4J is seeking an Assistant Coach for the 2026/27 season to support the head coach in delivering a high-quality interscholastic athletic program. The role emphasizes student development, teamwork, and adherence to district, OSAA and NFHS guidelines.

The candidate will assist with planning, supervision and safety of participants while maintaining confidentiality and professional standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Possession of a valid Red Cross First Aid Certificate including CPR.
• Concussion management training per OSAA.
• Successful background check.
• Preferred: TSPC license.
• Valid Oregon Driver’s License.
• Minimum of 1 year coaching experience in interscholastic athletics.
• Must be at least 22 years old.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, development and implementation of interscholastic athletic program policies and procedures.
• Support head coach to organize and conduct athletic programs for the school district.
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA, FERPA and educator ethics.
• Demonstrate teamwork and effective communication with students, staff and community.
• Ensure compliance with state/federal laws and OSAA/NFHS rules.
• Provide training and coaching to improve individual and group performance.
• Attend to administrative duties and schedules, including attendance.
• Lift and carry up to 25 pounds and remain active as required.
