Job summary

SCA Health is seeking a Scheduling Clerk to manage outpatient surgery scheduling, collect patient demographics and insurance data, and coordinate with the nursing team to ensure adequate staffing and equipment availability.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Minimum one year scheduling experience in ambulatory surgery facility, acute-care hospital, or doctor’s office.
• Excellent attendance, punctuality and ability to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Schedule all outpatient surgeries and procedures as requested by physicians or their staff.
• Enter patient demographics and insurance information into the billing system.
• Contact payers to verify patient benefits and obtain authorizations.
• Coordinate with the Director of Nursing to ensure equipment and staff availability.
• Prepare and distribute the daily surgery schedule to Nursing Managers and related staff.
• Capture complete clinical, demographic and insurance data for scheduled patients.
• Communicate potential scheduling conflicts to the Director of Nursing.
