Role may require CPR certification and EMS dispatcher certification; background checks and ongoing training are standard. Extended console work, headset use, and shift work including nights and weekends are typical.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; EMT or paramedic not universally required.
• CPR certification may be required or sponsored training may be provided.
• Certification in Emergency Medical Dispatch may be required before appointment.

Responsabilités

• Receive calls involving illness, injury, and other medical emergencies.
• Confirm patient location, callback number, and access details.
• Ask approved questions about the patient’s condition.
• Determine response priority through the medical dispatch system.
• Dispatch or coordinate ambulance resources when included in the assignment.
• Provide protocol-based instructions within current qualifications.
• Relay patient information and scene hazards to responding personnel.
• Document call processing and participate in quality-review activities.
