Job summary

Clackamas Education Service District is seeking an Educational Assistant for the Life Enrichment Education Program (LEEP). The EA will support students with complex disabilities through individualized and small group instruction, under the guidance of the LEEP Teacher, across multiple locations in Clackamas County.

The role includes assisting with daily routines, data collection, health tasks, and collaboration with related service staff to implement IEPs.

Qualifications

• At least 18 years of age.
• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Ability to operate technology for student instruction and/or care including computers and augmentative communication devices.
• Ability to produce materials using computers, copiers, audiovisual equipment, and other office machines.
• Ability to acquire and maintain required certifications: first aid/CPR and crisis intervention and physical management.
• Written and oral communication skills sufficient to perform essential functions.
• Physical and mental attributes sufficient to perform essential functions.

Responsibilities

• Following the guidance of the LEEP Teacher, the EA assists and/or teaches individual and small groups of students in specially designed instruction.
• Following the guidance of the LEEP Teacher, the EA instructs and/or assists students in following daily routines including personal hygiene, toileting, arrival, departure, walking, recess, feeding, and transportation.
• The EA supports students in engaging with peers in authentic activities of interest both in and outside the classroom.
• Follows all student plans and programs written by related service specialists.
• Performs health tasks and implements individualized protocols as delegated by the MESD's RN and classroom teacher.
• Prepares materials for instructional activities and routine clerical tasks.
• Implements crisis intervention and physical management procedures as required.
