Job summary

AHRC Nassau is seeking Direct Support Staff in New York to provide compassionate assistance to individuals with intellectual and other disabilities within the Community Living Services program. You will help with self-care, health, safety, meals, and daily routines to promote independence and well-being.

Responsibilities include supporting community participation, safe home practices, documenting plans, and collaborating with an interdisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Must have a valid NYS driver’s license and maintain it throughout employment.
• Ability to understand written and oral directives/information.

Responsibilities

• Provides ongoing guidance and support to individuals to ensure active participation in daily activities.
• Supports individuals in self-care, health, safety, meals, and community participation.
• Assists with transportation for medical appointments, shopping, and outings.
• Supports staff training and works with the inter-disciplinary team to ensure quality care.
• Performs duties as requested by supervisor and adheres to scheduling and staffing policies.
