Job summary

The Commonwealth Of Pennsylvania is hiring a County Caseworker 1 for Perry County Child Welfare Services in New Bloomfield, PA. This full-time role focuses on safeguarding children and supporting families, with a schedule 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday–Friday.

The position involves intake, investigations, home visits, case management, and on-call rotation. Telework is not available. Salary is $38,875.20 annually. Apply by 9/28/2026.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience as County Social Services Aide 3 with 12 college credits in related social sciences.
• Bachelor's degree with 12 credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, or related fields.
• Equivalent combination of study and paraprofessional case management experience.
• Within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.

Responsibilities

• Intake Planning: complete intake documentation and assess risk using approved guidelines.
• Child Safety: investigate reports of mistreatment and ensure child protection.
• Family Support: conduct monthly home visits and create family service plans.
• Placement Work: handle out-of-home placement duties including visits and family contact.
• Record Management: maintain accurate and detailed family files.
• On-Call Service: participate in a 24-hour on-call rotation.

Education

Two years of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 and two years of college level course work which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or

Bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by successful completion of 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or

Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 or in a similar position performing paraprofessional case management functions.

Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.
