Job summary

State of West Virginia Corrections Department seeks a dedicated Corrections Case Manager to advocate and strategize for an assigned inmate caseload. You will develop case histories, treatment plans, and provide behavioral recommendations to circuit courts, shaping outcomes for those under your care.

Beyond clinical and administrative duties, you’ll work a mandatory weekly 12-hour security shift to maintain safety and movement within the facility.

Qualifications

• Training: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a major in criminal justice, corrections, psychology, sociology, counseling, counseling and guidance, criminology, social work or related field.
• Substitution: Experience in corrections programming or treatment may substitute for the required training on a year-for-year basis.
• Experience: Two years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in inmate counseling, security or treatment in a correctional setting or related fields.
• Substitution: Master's Degree may substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
• Five years of experience at Correctional Officer 2 or higher as substitution for training/experience.

Responsibilities

• Advocate and strategize for an assigned caseload of inmates.
• Develop complex case histories and treatment programs.
• Provide behavioral recommendations to circuit courts.
• Perform a mandatory weekly 12-hour security shift to ensure facility safety and movement.
• Bridge inmates, legal representatives and families to meet needs through targeted counseling.
