Job summary

Volunteers of America Mid-States is seeking a Career Coach for the JPMC Work Reintegration Program in Louisville, KY. The role guides participants from outreach through enrollment, providing career planning, training coordination, job placement, retention support, and post-placement follow-up.

The position emphasizes collaboration with partners, coordinating supportive services, maintaining case records, and ensuring program performance and grant compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or related field experience may be considered.
• Experience in workforce development, career coaching, case management, employment services, vocational rehabilitation, recovery support, or related human services preferred.
• Experience supporting individuals facing barriers to employment, including justice involvement, housing instability, and unemployment, preferred.
• Strong communication, organization, time management, employer engagement, and documentation skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and electronic case management systems; ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, proof of automobile insurance, and ability to travel throughout the service area required.

Responsibilities

• Recruit eligible program participants through community outreach and partnerships.
• Receive referrals; complete intake, eligibility review, assessments, enrollment, and required documentation.
• Explain program expectations, services, responsibilities, and follow-up requirements.
• Develop and revise individualized service and employment plans with measurable goals.
• Provide one-on-one career counseling, exploration, goal setting, and pathway planning.
• Assist with resumes, job applications, digital literacy, job search strategies, mock interviews, and interview prep.
• Deliver required job readiness training and document curriculum completion.
• Provide ongoing coaching to address barriers and progress toward employment and advancement.
• Identify appropriate training, educational programs, certifications, and credential opportunities.
• Coordinate referrals, enrollment support, and progress monitoring for education and training.
• Assess barriers and arrange supportive services like transportation, identification, clothing, tools, and equipment.
• Connect participants with housing, childcare, food, utilities, and other needs; document all assistance.
• Build and maintain employer, staffing agency, and workforce partner relationships.
• Identify job opportunities aligned with participant interests and goals.
• Coordinate employer introductions, interviews, hiring events, and job fairs.
• Verify placements and maintain post-placement contact to support retention.
