Job summary

Play Rugby USA, a mission-driven youth development organization, is hiring a Chief Operating Officer to integrate systems across programs, fundraising, and operations. The COO partners with the Executive Director and Chief Program Officer to drive strategy, structure, and scalable processes.

The role oversees HR, finance, risk, compliance, and vendors, while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. Hybrid work with in-office days is expected.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive leadership in nonprofit operations or related fields.
• Demonstrated success building systems, processes, and cross-functional alignment.
• Strong nonprofit finance, HR operations, compliance, and governance knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Lead organizational strategy, planning, and priority setting with ED and CPO.
• Oversee HR, finance, risk management, compliance, and vendors.
• Strengthen culture, talent lifecycle, coaching, and manager effectiveness.
• Ensure financial management, internal controls, and annual audit readiness.
• Engage with the board to provide actionable operational insights.
