Job summary

UCSF Health seeks a Specialist with immunology experience and proficiency in mouse and human cell culture models of disease. The role develops and maintains research methods for bone and metabolic diseases, with involvement in gene therapy and gene editing (CRISPR/Cas9) in human iPSCs and mice.

The successful candidate will supervise personnel, contribute to translational research, and collaborate across the lab to advance scientific findings at UCSF.

Qualifications

• Terminal degree or 10+ years in the relevant specialization.
• FACS experience.
• Molecular biology techniques (Western blot, qPCR, electrophoresis, DNA/RNA isolation).
• Cytokine assessments/ELISA.
• Cellular assays of immune function.
• Tissue culture including human induced pluripotent stem cells.
• Use of mouse models (husbandry, euthanasia, tissue collection).
• Light/flourescence microscopy and immunohistochemistry.
• Supervisory experience.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and people skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain research methodology related to bone and metabolic diseases.
• Engage in gene therapy and gene editing work, including CRISPR/Cas9 constructs in hiPSCs and mice.
• Collaborate with the lab to advance experimental approaches and project milestones.
• Supervise lab personnel and coordinate workflows.
• Contribute to scientific dissemination and reporting.
