Job summary

NorthShore University HealthSystem seeks a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) in Immunology at Evanston Hospital. This full-time role requires performing clinical microbiology tests, maintaining instrumentation, and ensuring accurate reporting.

Strong communication and leadership are essential as you rotate through multiple lab areas. Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor's or Associate degree, meet CLIA requirements, and have MT/MLS (ASCP) certification preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Associate degree and CLIA requirements for moderate-high complexity testing.
• MT or MLS (ASCP) certification preferred.
• Internal MT/MLS candidate: 3 yrs experience including 1 yr as Senior Lab Associate at NorthShore.
• External MT/MLS candidate: 6 yrs experience incl. supervisory/technical resource position.

Responsibilities

• Perform clinical microbiology tests in one or more sections to obtain data for diagnosis and treatment.
• Maintain and calibrate multiplex instrumentation systems to ensure accuracy of results.
• Routinely resolve technical and interdepartmental problems in laboratory areas.
• Identify problems affecting performance or reporting and take corrective action or notify supervisor.
• Demonstrate teamwork and strong communication; manage operations of a laboratory discipline incl. QC, equipment maintenance, inventories, and staff competencies.
• Rotate through at least three areas of the Clinical Lab.
