Hispanic Federation (HF) is the nation's premier Latino nonprofit membership organization. Who We Seek

Hispanic Federation (HF) is seeking a highly motivated, bilingual (English/Spanish) Immigration Case Manager to support community members in navigating immigration processes, assist attorneys with data and case management, and guide community members through processes and procedures related to services provided by HF primarily in New York City, but also in other parts of New York State. The Case Manager must have an understanding of immigration legal proceedings and experience in managing case files and confidential applications with high cultural competency.

The ideal candidate will have experience within a nonprofit setting, a focus on immigration law and/or procedures, and a desire to address the concerns of underserved community members in New York State. An interest in immigration law and continuous learning will be a benefit to any candidate.

The position will require a strong attention to detail as cases will relate to both services and legal matters.

The position is a hybrid role and will require onsite presence at least 50% of the time (totaling 10 days a month) and will work under the supervision of the Director for Immigration Legal Services. The position will require frequent travel to community-based organizations in all 5 boroughs of New York City and occasional travel to Long Island and other parts of New York State.

Responsibilities:

Serve as the main point of contact for individuals seeking support and services from Hispanic Federation, conduct intake, and support our work at community-based clinics.

Complete immigration applications and forms accurately under attorney supervision and ensure all applications are correct and complete prior to final attorney review and submission to government agencies.

Determine evidentiary requirements for immigration applications under attorney supervision and complete intake interviews for all potential clients and support seekers.

Manage internal files and documents, ensuring data and documentation is properly logged and easily findable.

Develop connections with community-based organizations and contract attorneys, maintain and update the in-house service provider directory and distribute community resources based on identified needs.

Conduct Know Your Rights workshops on immigration-related matters in partnership with community-based organizations. Workshops will be both virtual and in-person.

Attend classes and workshops pertaining to immigration law and keep track of course credits, in order to achieve and maintain Department of Justice accreditation.

Record data and manage client’s confidential information in a safe and secure manner.

Prepare documentation for program reporting and audit activities.

Provide creative solutions to meet departmental deliverable/programmatic goals.

Support the Legal and Immigration Departments with administrative tasks, grant reports, and preparation for conferences and events.

Support community facing events such as legal clinics and intake events both onsite and at community locations.

Requirements and Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree required.

At least three (3) years of case management experience with members of underserved communities required.

Experience managing legal applications for services and guiding applicants through various governmental application processes required. Experience managing immigration casework is strongly preferred but not required.

Fluency in written and spoken Spanish and English required.

Ability to work collaboratively, communicate effectively, manage multiple tasks, and creatively problem solve is required. Must be detailed oriented and highly organized.

Experience with community outreach and engagement is a strong asset.

Experience working with immigrant communities of color, including LGBTQIA+, youth, and survivors of violence is a strong asset.

Proficient knowledge of computer systems and applications such as Adobe and Microsoft Office products, specifically Word, Excel, and Outlook; experience with Docketwise or other legal case management systems a plus.

Compensation and Benefits:

The salary range for this position is $60,000 to $65,000. Compensation comes with a robust benefits package with fully subsidized medical, dental, vision insurance, 403(B) retirement plan – eligible for a company match, access to flexible spending and pre-tax commuter benefits. Full-time regular employees are also provided with fifteen (15) vacation days, four (4) personal days, and paid sick time.

HF is a hybrid work environment with the opportunity to work from home 50% of the time.At least 10 days in the HF office are required per month and at least 1 day per week. Remote work must be accomplished from home and not from another location without prior approval.
