Job Title: Associate Benefits Opportunity Specialist II
The Family Independence Administration is seeking one (1) qualified candidate for the position of Associate Benefits Opportunity Specialist II. The role involves supervising teams providing eligibility determination, financial planning, economic support, and related services to promote self-sufficiency among individuals and families.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor workflow and supervise BOS staff handling applications, case reopenings, and benefit authorizations.
- Review cases and authorize benefits as needed.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting and act as liaison to the Rental Assistance Unit.
- Manage teams conducting interviews, assessing eligibility, and developing employment plans.
- Oversee case management activities, including establishing ongoing eligibility and developing strategies for participant self-sufficiency.
- Conduct regular reviews of performance reports and client feedback.
- Provide case consultation and guidance on difficult cases.
- Supervise clerical and BOS teams providing walk-in and telephone services.
- Oversee housing needs assessments and develop intervention plans for at-risk tenants.
- Prepare activity reports and review packets prior to fair hearings.
- Represent the agency effectively during hearings and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
- Conduct field visits as necessary.
Hours/Shift:
8:30 am – 5:00 pm with flexible schedules.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent plus three years of experience in social/human services or related fields, including client services or employment planning.
- Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college plus 18 months of full-time experience as a Benefits Opportunity Specialist or similar role.
- Experience may be substituted for college credits on a semester-to-month basis, with a minimum of 18 months of relevant experience required.
