Duties
Provide legal counsel and representation to clients in removal proceedings
Conduct legal research and analysis to craft tailored case strategies
Prepare and file legal documents, motions, waivers, petitions, and appeals
Represent clients in hearings before Immigration Court, BIA, USCIS, and Circuit Courts
Maintain regular and clear communication with clients throughout the legal process
Supervise and coordinate with paralegals and legal assistants to ensure timely filings and high-quality case management
Monitor updates in immigration law and policy changes to effectively advocate for clients
Manage caseload with strong attention to deadlines, detail, and client service
Handle complex matters such as waivers of inadmissibility and criminal immigration issues
Requirements
Minimum of 3 years of experience in immigration law, with a focus on removal defense
Demonstrated expertise in asylum, cancellation of removal, VAWA, waivers, BIA appeals, petitions for review, and mandamus actions
Ability to manage complex caseloads and meet court and agency deadlines
Experience supervising legal support staff
Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a high-volume setting
Education
Juris Doctor (J.D.) or LL.M. degree from an accredited law school
Certifications
Admission to the New York State Bar (required)

Excellent written and oral advocacy abilities
Clear and empathetic communication with clients
Strong organizational and time management skills
Familiarity with civil appellate litigation and immigration consequences of criminal infractions is a plus
