Job summary

Thrive Pet Healthcare Specialists is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support diagnostic imaging, including radiography, CT, and ultrasound, in a busy specialty hospital. You will prepare, position, and restrain patients, assist with sedation and anesthesia, and ensure safe, accurate imaging.

The role involves maintaining imaging records, coordinating with veterinarians and staff, and adhering to safety protocols in a fast-paced environment. Experience in imaging workflows and PACS is preferred.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of experience as a veterinary technician or assistant.
• Experience with patient handling, restraint, radiographic positioning, and anesthesia support.
• Familiarity with CT, ultrasound, PACS, digital imaging systems; ability to work in a specialty hospital.
• Strong attention to detail, communication and teamwork in a fast-paced environment.
• LVT/RVT/CVT credential is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Assist imaging procedures: radiography, CT, and ultrasound.
• Prepare, position, and restrain patients for imaging with sedation/anesthesia support as directed.
• Monitor patient safety, comfort, and imaging accuracy during procedures.
• Set up imaging, perform quality checks, and report equipment concerns.
• Maintain imaging records and proper labeling in PACS.
• Communicate estimates, patient updates, and follow-ups with teams and clients.
• Collaborate with radiologists, specialists, and staff to ensure efficient care.
• Follow OSHA and radiation safety protocols, using PPE and monitoring devices.
• Maintain a clean, organized imaging environment.
