Job summary

MaineGeneral Health is hiring a Patient Access Representative for the Imaging Department. The role involves financial clearance, registration, and clerical tasks for POS services, ensuring accurate demographic and billing data and handling payments such as co-pays and deductibles.

Qualifications

• Extensive customer service experience.
• Excellent and demonstrated communication skills/Computer literacy.
• 1 year of patient registration, scheduling, or other clerical/customer service experience in a medical office setting preferred.
• Ability to keyboard accurately and quickly.
• Basic insurance knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

• Meets with patient or patient’s caregiver to exchange necessary information and documentation and explain the process.
• Communicates with unit staff and other personnel to exchange necessary information and determine placement.
• Verifies insurance benefits and obtains precertification/authorization, and ensures verification of medical necessity as necessary.
• Obtains and enters demographic, billing, and clinical information into the registration system with timeliness and accuracy.
