Job summary

GE HealthCare in Chicago, IL is seeking a Field Service Engineer 1 to perform on-time preventive maintenance across imaging modalities, learn installation and basic troubleshooting, and support customer satisfaction through service excellence.

The role covers a Chicago service region with shifts five 8-hour days, M-F, including after-hours/on-call availability. You will work with experienced engineers on X-Ray and Ultrasound equipment and collaborate with customers to optimize their operations.

Qualifications

• An associate or bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Biomedical, or Mechanical Engineering (or related field) or equivalent military education.

Responsibilities

• Learn to perform on-time Preventive Maintenance, FMIs and/or ISIs.
• Assist more experienced field engineers with equipment installation.
• Work with experienced field engineers on basic troubleshooting and service repair needs on designated equipment.
• Communicate effectively with teammates and customers to ensure satisfaction.
• Partner with the customer and recommend value-added services to optimize their operations.
• Maintain service logs, internal service records, and manage parts ordering to control cycle times.
• Use GEHC escalation processes to define and implement corrective actions with regional support.
• Engage with account communities for key accounts and identify sales leads where appropriate.
• Focus on customer needs and strengthen the customer relationship as a trusted partner.
• Stay current on competitor information and market trends.
• Answer service calls independently within one year of employment.
