Job summary

University of Idaho is seeking a Laboratory Manager for the Image and Data Acquisition Core (IDAC) within the IMCI. The role oversees operation and maintenance of core research equipment including flow cytometers, microscopes, and other devices, while training users and coordinating vendor support in a 0.75 FTE position in Moscow.

The IDAC Manager reports to the IDAC Director and IMCI Director and manages budgets, charges, and usage statistics, working with department staff and university

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in biology or related STEM field.
• Two years of post‑Bachelor’s research work in lab operations or similar.
• Experience in supervising students and staff in a research setting.
• Ability to manage budgets and procure lab supplies.

Responsibilities

• Provide functional supervision of day-to-day lab activities.
• Develop guidelines and protocols for lab operations and safety.
• Oversee budgeting, usage statistics, and vendor coordination.
• Supervise scientific/technical staff and trainees.
• Direct and plan components of the scientific program.
• Prepare risk assessments and ensure compliance and safety.
