Job summary

Idaho National Laboratory is seeking a Department Manager to lead the Agentic AI Systems Engineering department, responsible for architecting and deploying agentic AI systems across the laboratory. You will guide a multidisciplinary team, develop capabilities, and align priorities with Genesis Mission objectives to meet evolving demands in agentic AI for science.

The ideal candidate will drive technical excellence, manage performance, and foster collaboration across organizational boundaries.

Qualifications

• Requires an advanced degree in Computer Science, Nuclear Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience with 2 years of leadership experience.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE 'Q' clearance (U.S. citizenship).

Responsibilities

• Lead the department in architecting and deploying agentic AI systems and multi-agent orchestration.
• Set direction, priorities, and objectives aligned with mission needs.
• Provide leadership and oversight for employees, including performance management.
• Develop capabilities for designing, evaluating, and scaling agentic workflows.
• Foster collaboration across disciplines and manage relationships with DOE interfaces.
• Support strategic planning and strengthen department capabilities and partnerships.
