Job summary

IDD Habilitation Specialist

RHA Health Services is seeking a positive, personable and compassionate individual to work as an IDD Habilitation Specialist. In this role you will support individuals with intellectual, developmental disabilities and related mental health and substance use challenges, helping them achieve personal outcomes through mentoring, program development, and quality assurance.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct Quality Assurance assessments for mealtime, active treatment, and formal programs focused on adaptive behavior.
  • Evaluate each client’s current level of adaptive behavior at admission and update annually.
  • Develop personal outcome programs based on priority objectives identified by the interdisciplinary team.
  • Specify behavioral objectives, training methods, reinforcers, criteria, data collection methods, and task analysis for each program; write and implement programs within required timelines.
  • Observe and provide feedback while working closely with home care staff and supervise staff during implementation.
  • Review and modify formal programs on 30‑day cycles; conduct in‑service training.
  • Conduct Personal Outcome Interviews with other staff to identify outcomes and supports.
  • Ensure compliance with ICF rules and regulations.
  • Mentor and model personal outcome programs for clients and home care staff.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Social Services, Special Education, Psychology or a related human services field.
  • Minimum of one year of experience working with individuals who have intellectual and developmental disabilities.
  • Valid driver’s license and automotive insurance.
  • Ability to read and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
  • Strong written communication skills for reports and business correspondence.
  • Passage of a background check and drug screen.
  • CPR, first aid, NCI or role‑specific certification (a plus).
  • Proficiency in CPR from the floor level, including work on hands, knees, bending, standing, and lifting.
