Job summary

Cornell University seeks a Licensed Veterinary Technician to join the Critical Care Service at CUHA. This role supports clinicians, students, and hospitalized patients in a fast-paced, 24/7 academic hospital.

You will coordinate diagnostic procedures, assist with admissions and discharges, and mentor students on rotation while ensuring high-quality patient care and collaboration across services.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in veterinary technology and at least 2 years of experience or an equivalent combination.
• New York State licensure or eligibility to become licensed in NYS.
• Strong clinical skills with ability to identify patients in crisis and notify a clinician promptly.
• Demonstrated ability to promote a positive learning environment for students and staff.
• Ability to complete work fully and on time.

Responsibilities

• Assist students and clinicians with morning and afternoon patient examinations and treatments.
• Schedule and assist with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
• Facilitate patient admission and discharge to and from units for the Critical Care Service.
• Mentor and teach students on rotation.
• Provide backup coverage to nursing care units and other services as needed.
