Job summary

University of Minnesota seeks a Senior Veterinary Technician for the ICU, 2nd shift (Sunday to Wednesday, 12:00pm–10:30pm). You will support DVMs with surgical and emergency care, administer medications, and assist in anesthesia and diagnostic procedures within a high‑volume hospital setting.

Qualified candidates are MVMA/MA VT certified with at least one year of veterinary experience and must work well in a team, maintain safety and infection control, and contribute to continuous patient care

Qualifications

• Graduate of Animal Health Technician or equivalent program.
• Certified MVMA/MA VT veterinary technician.
• At least one year of veterinary medical experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist clinicians and patients with procedures and prepare for radiographic procedures, surgeries, anesthesia, and ICU care.
• Perform medical and diagnostic procedures under DVM supervision; may include IV therapies, sample collection, and biopsies.
• Restrain and handle animals as needed for procedures and treatment.
• Administer medications, vaccinations, and other treatments as defined by clinicians.
• Maintain accurate records, coordinate with the medical team, and ensure patient care quality.
