Job summary

Cornell University’s College of Veterinary Medicine seeks a Licensed Veterinary Technician II to join the Critical Care Service at CUHA. The role supports clinicians, house officers, and veterinary students in treating critically ill patients, coordinating advanced procedures, and fostering a collaborative teaching environment in a fast-paced, 24/7 academic hospital.

Responsibilities include assisting with examinations and treatments, organizing procedures, and mentoring students.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in veterinary technology is required.
• New York State licensure or eligibility to become licensed in NYS.
• Robust clinical skillset including the ability to identify patients in crisis with immediate notification to clinician.
• Demonstrated ability to promote a positive learning environment for students, clinicians, and peer technicians.
• Able to complete work fully and on time.

Responsibilities

• Assist students and clinicians with morning and afternoon patient examinations and treatments.
• Schedule, organize, set-up and assist with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
• Facilitate patient admission and discharge to and from care units for the Critical Care Service.
• Act as a mentor and teacher for students on rotation.
• Provide floating backup coverage to nursing care units and other services as assigned.
