Job summary

Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington, IL is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for the ICU. The role covers 7pm to 7am, full-time hours, with an 18-bed unit and on-site intensivists. ACLS and BLS are required, with a competitive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, PTO and tuition reimbursement.

Responsibilities include care planning, patient assessment, team collaboration, safety leadership, and ongoing professional development. Nurses may be floated to other units as needed.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a Board of Nursing approved nursing education program.
• Active RN license with privileges to practice where the RN is providing care.
• ACLS required; BLS required.
• BSN preferred; strong clinical judgment and critical thinking.
• Experience in ICU/hospital nursing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Engages in unit councils, governance, and quality initiatives to improve care processes.
• Uses the nursing process to assess, plan, diagnose, implement, and evaluate care.
• Monitors patient conditions, adjusts care plans, and collaborates with the care team.
• Upholds a culture of safety and ensures accurate EHR documentation.
• May administer medications and therapies according to protocols.
• Demonstrates effective communication and supports professional development.
• May float to other units within the service area as needed.
• Adheres to age-specific care and ethical standards.
