Our specialty hospitals provide critical care similar to what patients receive in traditional hospitals or ICUs, but for an extended recovery period. Our clinicians are vital in the recovery of chronic, critically ill, and medically complex patients.

Registered Nurse – Advanced Skills / ICU RN

Summary: Provides high-quality care to critically ill patients through assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation. Acts as a patient advocate and supervises nursing care provided by others. Develops and updates nursing care plans in collaboration with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams. Applies critical thinking to promote positive outcomes and participates in discharge planning.

  • Maintains nursing standards and adheres to hospital and department policies.
  • Assesses patients on admission, referring to other disciplines as needed.
  • Develops and updates individualized nursing care plans with patient and family input.
  • Manages patient restraints and ensures proper positioning.
  • Documents assessments, care plans, and pertinent information accurately in electronic medical records.
  • Operates biomedical equipment correctly, such as defibrillators, suction machines, IV and feeding pumps, PCA pumps, and blood glucose monitors.
  • Delivers safe, effective patient care, completing assignments timely and demonstrating teamwork.
  • Obtains informed consents for procedures and transfusions.
  • Receives and accurately transcribes physician orders, ensuring implementation.
  • Recognizes and responds to patient condition changes, initiating emergency protocols as necessary.
  • Performs assessments and reassessments per policy, documenting findings thoroughly.
  • Communicates pertinent observations to the team and records them accurately.
  • Administers medications knowledgeably, understanding actions, side effects, and dosages.
  • Recognizes and initiates protocols for arrhythmias and cardiac rhythms.
  • Supervises and evaluates nursing care, assisting team members as needed.
  • Administers medications following the 'seven rights' of medication administration.
  • Assists with or facilitates special tests and procedures.
  • Utilizes supplies economically and maintains equipment safety and cleanliness.
  • Participates in orientation and performance evaluations of staff.
  • Provides direct patient care when necessary and coordinates nursing care during procedures or therapies.
  • Implements emergency measures for adverse patient events like cardiac or respiratory arrest.

Education:

  • Graduate of an accredited RN program.

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Current RN license in the state.
  • BCLS and ACLS certifications required.

Experience:

  • Minimum one year of critical care training and experience.
