Qualifications

• Current license to practice as a registered nurse in the state of Iowa or compact state.
• Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing preferred.
• Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
• Iowa Dependent Adult Abuse/Iowa Child Abuse Mandatory Reporter training required.
• ACLS and additional department-specific trainings within specified timeframes.

Responsibilities

• Communicate accurate information at handoffs to patients, families, and staff.
• Ensure information is conveyed for the best possible patient outcomes.
• Assess, plan, intervene, coordinate and evaluate care per patient plan.
• Maintain real-time documentation of nursing care for team use.
• Direct other staff in the provision of care as assigned.
• Communicate with patients considering age, fears, and language barriers.
• Respond to emergencies within scope of practice.
• Promote patient safety throughout the patient experience.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team and provide patient education.
• Stay current on evidence-based practice and department protocols.
