Job summary

Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, IA is seeking an Registered Nurse for weekend day shifts (0700-1930, Sat/Sun) with a potential sign-on bonus of up to $9,000. This role requires critical thinking, compassionate patient care, and teamwork within a high‑acuity unit.

Experience in acute care is preferred. LPNs/techs assist, and a BSN is preferred with Iowa RN licensure, BLS, and mandatory reporter training. The position is hourly with benefits and a robust safety culture.

Qualifications

• Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Iowa or a compact state.
• Current BLS certification as required by Mercy.
• Iowa Dependent Adult Abuse/Iowa Child Abuse Mandatory Reporter training.

Responsibilities

• Communicates accurately and timely with patients, families, and co‑workers during handoffs and as needed.
• Performs competent assessment, planning, intervention, coordination, and evaluation based on the patient plan of care.
• Maintains accurate, real‑time documentation of nursing care and outcomes.
• Directs other licensed and non‑licensed personnel in patient care as assigned.
• Responds to emergencies within scope of practice and maintains patient safety throughout.
