Job summary

Mercy Medical Center in Iowa seeks a Registered Nurse for the Intensive Care Center (ICC). The RN will provide critical care, communicate with families, document care, and collaborate with the healthcare team in a high-acuity environment.

The role requires current Iowa RN licensure, BLS, ACLS within 6 months, and department-specific training in IABP/CRRT, Conscious Sedation, and Impella within specified timeframes. A sign-on bonus may apply.

Qualifications

• Current license to practice as a registered nurse in Iowa or a compact state.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Iowa Dependent Adult Abuse/Iowa Child Abuse Mandatory Reporter training.
• Conscious Sedation training within 6 months of hire/transfer (ICC).
• ACLS certification within 6 months of hire/transfer (ICC).
• IABP/CRRT training within 1 year of hire/transfer (ICC).
• Impella training/certification within 1 year of hire/transfer (ICC).

Responsibilities

• Communicate accurately with patients, families, and staff at handoffs and throughout shifts.
• Assess, plan, implement, coordinate, and evaluate patient care per plan of care.
• Maintain real-time documentation of nursing care for the care team.
• Mentor and direct other licensed and unlicensed staff in care delivery.
• Respond to emergencies within scope of practice and ensure patient safety.
