Job summary

UTMB Health in League City seeks a Patient Care Technician I (PCT I) for the ICU on days, providing basic technical assistance and supportive care under the charge nurse. Duties include collecting vitals, venipuncture, EKG, POCT, and patient hygiene; assisting with feeding, mobility, and safety while maintaining privacy and infection control.

Required: high school diploma or equivalent and completion of a recognized nursing/medical program or two years of direct patient care, or applicable

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and completion of a recognized nursing or medical program OR 2 years direct patient care experience.
• May include MA, PCT, CNA certification at hire or enrollment in nursing school with clinical concepts.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) is required.

Responsibilities

• Collects vital signs, height/weight, intake and output, pulse oximetry, and specimens.
• Obtains blood samples by venipuncture and performs 12 lead EKG.
• Provides basic patient care and hygiene: bathing, grooming, and safety.
• Assists with feeding, mobility, and activities per care plan.
• Maintains privacy, infection control, and aseptic technique; documents data.
• Supports patient requests and coordinates with nursing staff in ICU.
