Job summary

UTMB Health in Galveston, TX, seeks a Patient Care Technician I (PCT) for the Medicine Cardiology unit on day shifts. The role provides basic technical assistance and supportive patient care across assigned areas.

Qualifications

• Completion of a recognized Nurse Assistant program or Medical Assistant program.
• Two years of experience in a direct patient care environment.
• Certified MA, PCT, or CNA at time of hire.
• Enrolled in a School of Nursing with first semester completed.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required.

Responsibilities

• Collect vital signs, height/weight, intake/output, pulse oximetry, and collect specimens.
• Obtain blood samples by venipuncture.
• Acquire 12 lead EKG.
• Perform and report POCT.
• Assist with patient activities and care per the plan of care.
• Assist with personal hygiene and mobility, including tubing, wounds, and safety precautions.
• Provide feeding assistance and support for daily living activities.
• Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality; ensure a clean, safe environment.
