Job summary

The University of Texas Medical Branch seeks a patient care professional to provide basic technical assistance and supportive patient care in assigned areas at UTMB Health in Texas City. Qualifications

• High school or equivalent AND completion of one of the listed technical programs or experience.
• Two years of experience in direct patient care environment.
• Certified MA, PCT, or CNA at time of hire.
• Enrolled in School of Nursing with first semester of education containing clinical concepts.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic technical assistance and supportive patient care in assigned areas.
• Collect, report, and document vital signs, height/weight, intake/output, pulse oximetry, and specimens.
• Obtain blood samples by venipuncture and acquire 12 lead EKG; perform and report POCT.
• Assist with patient activities and care as indicated by the plan of care; support hygiene and mobility.
• Maintain patient privacy, infection control, and a clean, safe environment.

Education

Completion of Nurse Assistant program

Completion of Medical Assistant program

Completion of Medical Corpsman program

Completion of EMT program

Completion of UTMB Hospital Aide Training Program

Two years of experience in direct patient care

Certified MA, PCT, or CNA at time of hire

Enrolled in School of Nursing with first semester completed (clinical concepts)
