Job summary

UTMB Health in League City is seeking a Patient Care Technician II for the Night shift in Med/Surg. The role provides technical assistance and patient care, including vital signs, venipuncture, EKGs, POCT, and daily living activities under the nurse in charge.

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, completion of one of several approved programs, and a current BLS certification. Leadership and patient safety are emphasized within the unit.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or equivalent and hospital experience.
• Completion of one of: Nurse Assistant, Medical Corpsman, EMT, or nursing school first semester.
• Must provide documentation of completing at least two listed items (dispatch, POCT, cross-training, etc.).
• Active BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Collects vital signs, height/weight, intake/output, pulse oximetry and specimens.
• Obtains blood samples by venipuncture and draws 12-lead ECG.
• Performs POCT and assists with activities per care plan.
• Assists with patient hygiene, mobility, feeding, and discharge processes.
• Maintains safe patient environment and confidentiality of records.
• Chaperones during examinations and supports the healthcare team.
