Job summary

MedStar Health is seeking a Director of Nursing for the Intensive Care Unit (Nurse Manager) to lead the medical and neurological ICUs. The role oversees a 42-bed unit, mentors staff, and aligns nursing care with the organization’s mission and quality standards.

Responsibilities include strategic budgeting, resource management, and collaboration with Medical Staff and other departments to ensure high reliability and patient-centered care across all units served.

Qualifications

• RN license or compact state licensure (required)
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to exercise independent judgment
• Verbal and written communication skills

Responsibilities

• Creates a professional practice atmosphere and mentoring environment with high associates' satisfaction.
• Builds collaborative relationships with inter-professional health care team leaders.
• Manages unit-based budget, resources, and staffing to ensure safe patient care and high quality outcomes.
• Provides clinical leadership and supports Magnet or Pathways to Excellence programs as determined by nursing leadership.
• Leads change initiatives and collaborates with senior nursing leadership to align with organizational objectives.
