Job summary

Memorial Hermann Health System is seeking an experienced Acute Care Nurse Practitioner to support the CVICU and ICU services. The role involves shift coverage in a high-acuity environment with 8 CVICU beds and 22 ICU beds, split with five attending physicians and intensivist oversight.

Candidates should have AGACNP certification and 5+ years of critical care RN experience; new grads with strong ICU RN background may be considered.

Qualifications

• Two years clinical nursing experience in area of intended practice.
• Graduate of Nurse Practitioner Program approved by the State of Texas or graduate of an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Program approved by the State of Texas if trauma area; Master of Nursing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides assessment, triage, and therapeutic management of patient/family needs throughout the disease process as part of an interdisciplinary team.
• Obtains medical histories; performs physical examinations; reviews diagnostic tests; formulates and manages treatment plans and outcomes.
• Collaborates in development and evaluation of patient care; updates guidelines/protocols; ensures accountability for outcomes.
• Educates patient/family on care and resources; participates in process improvement and multidisciplinary clinical outcome activities.
• Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to Memorial Hermann policies and standards within budget and time constraints.
• Promotes professional growth by meeting education requirements and supporting department goals; serves as preceptor and resource.
• Demonstrates commitment to compassionate, personalized experiences; upholds service standards for patients and colleagues.
• Other duties as assigned.
