Job summary

Nicklaus Children's Health System seeks a Pediatric Nursing Float Pool role to plan and deliver care using nursing processes, with a focus on assessment, implementation, and evaluation. The role supports Magnet-designated standards and family-centered care under Nursing Management oversight.

The nurse will participate in interdisciplinary rounds, maintain safety, and ensure accurate documentation in Cerner while coordinating with physicians and families in a fast-paced pediatric environment.

Qualifications

• RN licensure in Florida or eNLC (multi-state) and active good standing.
• BLS required; active and in good standing.
• PALS required within 2 years of hire.
• ACLS required within 1 year of hire.
• NRP required within 1 year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform admissions, history, assessments, and discharge planning per policy.
• Conduct SBAR handoffs and document in Cerner.
• Plan, implement, and document plan of care in collaboration with multidisciplinary team.
• Provide nursing care including ventilator management and IV monitoring.
• Administer medications with six rights and monitor drips.
• Collaborate in daily care planning rounds and promote family-centered care.
• Use electronic systems to ensure safe, efficient patient care; respond to calls per policy.
• Report critical values promptly and document physician notifications.
• Ensure proper wound care per policy; request narcotics/orders as needed.
• Assess sites, circulation, ROM every 2 hours for restraints per policy.
• Access EHR per policy and document accurately.
• Communicate care plans and educate patients/families; translate when needed.
