Job summary

Canlan Ice Sports is seeking an Ice Maintenance Person (non-ticketed) to keep ice surfaces and facilities in optimal condition. The role involves resurfacing and edging with the Ice Resurfacer, janitorial work, and general maintenance of the arena and equipment.

The position requires hands-on maintenance skills, the ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends, and a proactive, safety-conscious approach. Prior ice resurfacing experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Completed high school education or equivalent (preferred)
• Valid driver’s license (preferred)
• Experience operating ice resurfacing equipment is desirable
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
• Strong mechanical aptitude is advantageous
• Trade or janitorial experience is a plus
• Organised, self-motivated and proactive

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance tasks in accordance with local building and fire codes.
• Responsible for Ice Maintenance tasks including Ice Resurfacer operation.
• Ice chopping/spudding, levelling, painting, dasher board repair and arena glass replacement.
• Maintain facility fixtures, cleaning and floor care procedures.
• Frequent janitorial duties and grounds maintenance, snow/debris removal as needed.
• Ensure safety checklists and equipment sign-out records are up-to-date.
