Job summary

DHR Health in McAllen, TX is seeking a Coder I, Coding to assign ICD-10-CM codes for outpatient encounters and support billing, reporting, and regulatory compliance. You will work with AHIMA guidelines and 3M coding software to ensure accurate coding and timely processing.

The ideal candidate has medical coding training or certification and solid knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and HIPAA. Strong research ability and independent judgment are valued.

Qualifications

• Certification in medical coding preferred (various credentials accepted).
• Experience coding outpatient encounters using ICD-10-CM, CPT, and APC guidelines.
• Knowledge of HIPAA, coding ethics, and healthcare compliance.

Responsibilities

• Code outpatient procedures and diagnoses per ICD-10-CM, CPT and APC guidelines.
• Review provider documentation to determine principal diagnosis and comorbidities.
• Utilize 3M Coding Software and attach HCPCS modifiers as needed.
• Review and resolve coding errors; assist with workflow improvements to reduce denials.
