Job summary

CSG Consultants, Inc. in California seeks an experienced Building Official supervisor to manage a jurisdiction’s Building Department, oversee staff, enforce codes, and ensure regulatory compliance.

The role involves coordinating with city officials and clients, and may require travel to client sites. The position requires ICC certification, 2+ years leading a Building Official team (or 5+ years as Inspector Supervisor/Deputy Building Official), and a valid CA driver's license.

Qualifications

• ICC Building Official certification must be maintained as a condition of employment.
• 2+ years’ experience as a Building Official in a private/public agency; OR minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Building Inspector Supervisor/Deputy Building Official with a private/public
• High school diploma or GED.
• Excellent verbal and written skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
• Possession and maintenance of a valid Class “C” California driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record is required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operations of the department and staff, including counter technicians, clerical, inspection, and plan review.
• Supervise, recruit, and train assigned staff.
• Ensure compliance with State and Federal regulations governing construction projects and enforce local ordinances.
• Create and implement ordinances, policies, and procedures.
• Meet regularly with city department members, community, and elected officials.
• Enforce codes, regulations and ordinances and ensure staff execute directives.
