Job summary

The University of Texas at Austin is seeking an IACUC and IBC Analyst (or Senior IACUC and IBC Analyst) in the Office of Research Support and Compliance to review protocol submissions and ensure hazards are identified, with liaison duties to ARC and EHS.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree and relevant compliance experience; strong planning, communication, and regulatory knowledge are essential. The position offers a hybrid work option and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and three years of experience in research or research compliance, preferably with animals or biohazards.
• Ability to plan and carry out responsibilities independently.
• Ability to interpret policies and procedures to solve unusual and/or difficult problems.
• Ability to work collaboratively within and across teams.
• Effective communication with university administrators, faculty, postdocs and students.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
• Excellent planning and organizational skills.
• Experience using computer applications.

Responsibilities

• Review new IACUC protocol submissions, modifications, and renewals to identify safety concerns.
• Cross-check IACUC and IBC protocols for congruence; coordinate with EHS for safe practices.
• Review Biosafety registrations and renewals; provide pre-review for registrations involving animals.
• Assist in risk assessments and SOPs for hazards in animal research.
• Assist in producing training materials and outreach for IBC, IACUC, and ARC members.
• Provide guidance on IACUC and IBC functions; attend committee meetings and inspections.
• Maintain knowledge of state and federal regulations; perform other duties as assigned.
