Job summary

The University of Iowa seeks an Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) Coordinator to provide administrative support for biosafety compliance programs and IBC operations. Responsibilities include routing IBC submissions, coordinating committee activities, and maintaining compliance records.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences or equivalent required.
• Six months to one year of practical experience in biomedical or life science research lab.
• Ability to read, interpret, and summarize scientific/technical information.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Interpersonal and customer service skills for working with faculty, staff, students, and researchers.
• Proficiency using databases, electronic records, and standard business software.

Responsibilities

• Provide administrative review and routing of IBC submissions.
• Coordinate IBC committee activities and maintain records.
• Track biosafety compliance and manage records and communications.
• Support laboratory inspections and biosafety program activities.
• Report to the Biological Safety Officer and collaborate with EHS team.
